Question for practice
The following questions are more helpful for class tenth students for all boards.

*Questions:7.  A man’s age is 125% of what it was 10 years ago, but (250/3)% of what it will be after 10 years. What is his present age?

  2. Let man's present age = x years
    x = 125/100(x-10)
    or x = 5/4 (x-10)
    or x = 5x-50/4 ....(1)

    x = 250/300(x+10)
    or x = 5/6 (x+10)
    or x = 5x+50/6 ....(2)
    by comparing (1) and (2),
    5x-50/4 = 5x+50/6
    or 30x-300 = 20x+200
    or 10x = 500
    or x = 50
    therefore, Man's present age = 50 years.

  3. LET THE MAN'S AGE BE= x
    x=125/100(x-10)
    x=5/4(x-10)
    4x=5x-50
    therefore,x=50
    SO,THE PRESENT AGE OF THE MAN IS 50 YEARS.

  4. simple way//// easy .....

    LET THE MAN'S AGE BE= x years

    => x=125/100(x-10)
    => x=5/4(x-10)
    => 4*x=5*x-5*10
    => 4x=5x-50
    => 4x-5x= -50
    => -x= -50
    => x = 50
    => therefore,man's present age is 50 YEARS.

  5. Let mans age 10 years age = x yrs
    x+10=125/100x
    100x+1000=125x
    25x=1000x=40

    * mans present age = 10+x=10+40=50

  6. let the age of man be x yrs.
    so,
    x=125/100(x-10)
    x=5/4(x-10)
    4x=5x-50
    -x=-50
    x=50
    therefore, present age of man is 50 yrs.

  7. Here, since only 1 criterion is given i.e. a man's age, hence we will use only 1 variable... and cross check it with both conditions...

    Let the man's present age be x years
    So, x = [125 (x-10)]/100
    => x = [5x - 50]/4
    => 4x = 5x - 50
    => x = 50........(1)

    So, one value of x is 50...

    CROSS CHECK:-

    x = [250/3(100)].(x + 10)
    => x = [5(x+10)]/6
    => 6x = 5x + 50
    => x = 50..........(2)

    Since (1) = (2)

    Hence the value of x is 50!!!

    THANKS!!!
