Questions 15.  Find the greatest number that will divide 38, 45 and 52, leave remainders as 2, 3 & 4 respectively ?

  1. The LCM of two or more fractions is the least fraction or integer which is exactly divisible by each of them.
    LCM of the fractions = LCM of numerators / HCF of denominators
    Question : 1/2 & 1/5
    Answer : 1/1 = 1


  2. The HCF of two or more fractions is the highest fraction which is exactly divisible by each of the fractions.
    HCF of the fractions = HCF of numerators / LCM of denominators
    Question :HCF of 1/2 & 1/5
    Answer : HCF = 1/10 = 0.1

  2. Sir is the formula for L.C.M of fractions= L.C.M of numerator by H.C.F of denominator

    38-2 = 36
    45-3 = 42
    52-4 = 48
    therefore, hcf of 36, 42 ,48 = 6
    therefore, 6 is the greatest no. that will divide 38, 45 , 52 leaving remainders 2 , 3 , 4 respectively.
